Finder folder appears instead of preview when hitting spacebar on desktop

I have a png file on my desktop. I click on it and hit spacebar to see a preview of it like usual but instead of the preview showing it opens up a finder folder of my main account folder under “Users”. I changed the shortcut but that didn’t seem to have anything to do with it. I’m on an apple M1 2020 running 15.4.1
