switch between parent folder and finder selections

Here's something I just realized, if something is selected I can't run actions or queries on a folder. but in order to deselect something in finder I have to click empty space with the mouse (at least to my knowledge this is the only way). Not sure if this is a feature request or something substage could handle, but I made a workaround in order to deselect something in finder using only the keyboard just now. A simple keyboard maestro macro that executes this applescript: tell application "Finder" to set selection to {}
